Alicia McCalla Slays Eleven Questions (repost)

Alicia McCalla

1). Tell us a bit about yourself.

I write stories for both new adults and adults with my brand of Black superheroes, dark paranormal, and horror. My stories always include strong black women heroines who fight back, sometimes to the death.

2). Who is your favorite vampire author?

One of my favorite authors is AD Koboah. She has this amazing series that mixes Vampires and African magic called the Darkling series.

3). If you had the choice, would you be a vampire?

Hmm. I’m always freezing cold, maybe… I could be a vampire but in general I love Slayers over Vampires. I’d rather be a Vampire Huntress!

4). Who is your favorite vampire?

One of my favorites is Akasha from Queen of the Damned. I enjoyed the twists and turns of the movie as well as the deep ancient African roots associated with the character.

5). What do you like the most about Slay?

I love the fact that Slay has so many great authors who have told stories about Black vampires and vampire hunters. It’s a very cool anthology.

6). What inspired you to write your story?

I’m a huge Blade and Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan. I’ve always wanted to write a Vampire Huntress.  When the call came to write for this anthology, I was too stoked and couldn’t wait to write something unique and sinister (evil laughter).

7). Tell us a bit about your story.

When a vampire huntress finds a bloody butcher knifed note stuck in her apartment door, she must stop her vampire ex-boyfriend from killing all the hunters in the Guild or face fulfilling a terrible prophecy.

8). What do you hope to accomplish with your story?

Generally awe, horror and dismay. No seriously… I’m hoping readers will enjoy the supernatural action in the story and will email me and let me know if they’d like me to continue the story by creating a series…

9). Will there be more stories about Kendra?

Sure…If readers want more, I’ll be more than happy to turn Kendra into a full series.

10). How do we keep up with all things Alicia McCalla?

11). What advice would you give to Slay readers about this anthology?
