May 16th, 2022 — Rock Hill, SC
Mocha Memoirs Press is proud to announce two of our authors won prestigious awards over the weekend.
Sumiko Saulson was awarded The Richard Laymon President’s Award for Service by the Horror Writers Association.
“The Richard Laymon President’s Award for Service was instituted in 2001 and is named in honor of Richard Laymon, who died in 2001 while serving as HWA’s President. As its name implies, it is given by HWA’s sitting President.
The award is presented to a volunteer who has served HWA in an especially exemplary manner and has shown extraordinary dedication to the organization.”
Sumiko’s latest release “Happiness and Other Diseases” is available now from Mocha Memoirs Press, LLC.
Nicole Givens Kurtz won the Palmetto Scribe Award for Best Novel/Novella (A Theft Most Fowl, A Kingdom of Aves Mystery) and for Best Short Story (Dogwood Stories, published in Apex Magazine).
The Palmetto Scribe Awards are presented at AtomaCon since 2021 to the best South Carolina-based genre authors, as voted by the attendees of AtomaCon.
Congratulations to both Sumiko and Nicole.
